GATHERING PEASCODS.
This beautiful air is contained in all editions of The Dancing Master, from 1650 to 1690. The two first bars are the same as " All in a garden green" (see p. Ill) ; but the resemblance continues no further, and that air is in phrases of eight, and this of six bars.
Not having been able to discover the original words, the following lines were written to it by the late Mr. J. A. Wade; retaining the pastoral character, which is indicated by its name. |
